Job Description

The Payments Team at Cash App & AfterPay is responsible to build and maintain a resilient, optimized, and innovative payments ecosystem, ensuring that customers can seamlessly move money into and out of Cash App. We identify and drive strategic initiatives to enhance our payments platform and partner with the product development teams to build best in class payments infrastructure. Our day to day work includes monitoring, triage, and investigation for partnership management, payment success, cost validation and, network rules and post-transaction flows. Reporting to the Partnerships Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving operational excellence for our complex ecosystem and unique payment types of network partners and acquirers. This includes serving as the voice of network partners to Cash App Product teams while developing a deep understanding of Cash App use cases in order to optimize and advocate for Cash App to the networks. This person will ensure that Cash App has a strong relationship with the major networks and is fully compliant with network payment rules. We’ll rely on you to advocate for a healthy payments ecosystem for our customers and our partners, finding new innovative solutions that position Cash App for future success and growth.

You will:

Manage Cash App’s network partnerships to ensure operational excellence and build trust for Cash App in the payments ecosystemBecome Cash’s go to authority and expert in the network technical requirements and rules of card payment transactionsManage payment operations across multiple acquirers, gateways, networks, and product typesBe a liaison between network partners to Cash App product teams Triage and investigate reported payments escalations across multiple channels, while providing timely and accurate responses to our internal and external partnersEnjoy getting into the weeds to deeply understand our systems to address day-to-day needs and also look for patterns or gaps which may lead to more strategic opportunitiesPartner and collaborate internally across multiple stakeholders (including data science, product, legal, finance, and engineering) to scope, influence, and drive implementation of optimizations and new payment ideasBe a proactive executor and have a bias to action, working autonomously and with our internal and external partners to jump into the details and problem solveWork closely with the Acquiring Operations team to drive operational excellence for payment acceptance Become an expert in core payments and support infrastructure, tools, systems, and data


Qualifications

5+ years experience in the payments industry at either a bank, network, acquirer, fintech, or similar companyExcellent business acumen, relationship building and communication skills, and self starting attitudeStrong understanding of the end-to-end payments ecosystem, including payment methods, card networks and rules, acquiring and processing, and the regulatory environment. Experience working cross-functionally with Payment Partnerships, Finance, Data Science, Product and Engineering to identify, evaluate, and size opportunities in order to effectively prioritize workExperience driving continuous improvement projects, where you’ve applied deep knowledge to uncover and execute both short and long term optimizationsExposure to and experience working with multiple external partners in the payments supply chain. Strong business analytic skills, including the ability to use data to drive and influence business requirementsExperience working in an ambiguous space and driving projects from ideation to launch

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These base salary ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $122,900 - USD $184,300

Zone B: USD $116,700 - USD $175,100

Zone C: USD $110,600 - USD $165,800

Zone D: USD $104,500 - USD $156,700
